Having a Writer’s Notebook that you find yourself brainstorming material for and continually seeking to return to during your everyday routine can a source of creativity and joy in one’s life. I know it certainly was for me.

I divided my use of the Writer’s Notebook into a few main categories.

1) Poetry Revision Process

So many of my pages were filled with poem rewrite, and this made me realize just how critical this component of my process was.

2) Modeling/Breaking down the poetry process

As I tried to transition from the prose I had been writing, mostly in journal-entry style, to starting to write poems again for the first time in a while, I examined the way in which I was trying to go about writing poetry, and in doing so realized a lot about the form and the ways in which I approach it.
